This replacement rack definitely slides smoother than the stock plastic rack. But, I also put it in with a servo swap and a custom made servo link using the RC4WD Steely M3 Rod End (Heim Joint). And produced nearly flawless steering action.

aluminum steering rack
Works great got rid of the binding when turning and I gained a little turning ability.
